Eddyline Privacy Policy
Eddyline for Mac, iPhone and iPad · Effective October 26, 2026
The short version: Eddyline collects no personal information from anyone, children included. There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking.
Where your library is kept
The app saves your subscriptions, folders, articles, reading state, stars, Later queue, highlights and notes, rules and settings on your device. If the device is signed in to iCloud, it also keeps a copy of your subscriptions, folders, articles, reading state, highlights and rules in your own iCloud account through Apple, so they come back after reinstalling the app and are shared with your other Macs, iPhones and iPads. That copy is yours: it never reaches me or anyone else, and I can't see it. Sync with iCloud in Settings (Settings › General on the Mac) turns that off.
How long it's kept, and deleting it
Your library stays until you remove it. Unsubscribing from a feed removes it, its articles and their highlights. Deleting the app erases everything on that device. The iCloud copy stays in your iCloud account until you delete it: on iPhone or iPad, Settings › your name › iCloud › Storage › Eddyline; on a Mac, System Settings › your name › iCloud › Manage › Eddyline. I hold nothing about you, so there's nothing for me to delete, but you're welcome to ask.
Your choices
Turn off Sync with iCloud to keep your library on one device. Disconnect a service in Settings › Services to stop sending to it and erase its details from the app. Turn notifications off for Eddyline in your device's Settings (System Settings on the Mac) at any time.
Notifications
Only rules you set to notify you send notifications, and only for new articles that match them. They're local notifications from your device; nothing goes through a server.
Services you connect
If you connect Instapaper, Readwise or Raindrop.io in Settings › Services, Eddyline sends the articles and highlights you choose to that service, using the details you enter. Those details stay in that device's keychain, and each service handles what you send under its own privacy policy.
Third parties
Eddyline has no analytics, advertising or other third-party code, and I don't share any data with anyone. iCloud sync runs through Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy, and the services above receive only what you choose to send them.
Spotlight and Shortcuts
Articles you star, save for Later or highlight are added to Spotlight on your device, so you can find them there. Shortcuts, and AppleScript on the Mac, can read and change your library only on that device, when you run them.
Network
To show you articles, Eddyline downloads feeds, and article pages when you ask for the full article, directly from the sites you follow. Those sites see the request as they would from a browser; nothing about you is sent to me. The reader shows articles with page scripts off and known trackers blocked; a feed you set to show its website loads the live page, scripts and all, as your browser would.
Children
Eddyline is for everyone. Because it collects no personal information, it collects none from children under 13, in line with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the GDPR.
Changes
If this policy changes, I'll update this page and the date at the top.
